Cedar log furniture is where it all began. With a small crew of craftspeople, Lonesome Cottage supplies the local market with handcrafted cedar log furniture – many of its original designs are still used today.

Seeing a diamond in the rough, Brandon and Jill Andersen purchase Lonesome Cottage. Building on a solid foundation, they expand their retail sales by selling at home and cabin shows across the country.

Seeing potential for scaling the business beyond a regional reach, Lonesome begins their national journey by launching a new wholesale brand: Fireside Lodge Furniture.

Under the name of Fireside Lodge, Lonesome “officially” steps on the national stage by establishing a presence at the High Point and Las Vegas Furniture Markets and eventually opens permanent showrooms at both locations. Fireside Lodge products also emerge on eCommerce sites.

After acquiring Pine Country Furniture to expand their product offerings into hickory furniture, Lonesome moves from its small shop into a larger showroom in Pequot Lakes. And to accommodate the growth in sales and staff, they also build a new 30,000 square foot production facility down the road.

Under the Fireside Lodge brand, Lonesome introduces a line of reclaimed barnwood furniture that continues to be a perennial best seller to this day. Lonesome also acquires and absorbs Whalen Woods Furniture.

Lonesome Cottage acquires Wooded River, Inc. Operated near Boise, Idaho, Wooded River’s rustic top-of-bed and décor products perfectly compliment Fireside Lodge’s offerings. The new sister company shifts to a national wholesale model like its furniture-focused brother.

As its market share increases with more wholesale avenues, Wooded River increases its staff and expands into a new facility still located near Boise, Idaho. Wooded River now offers more than 2000 unique products, and Fireside Lodge more than 4000.

After almost a decade of success in the wholesale realm, Fireside Lodge and Wooded River are now in more than 300 retail stores across the US and have products for sale on more than 100 eCommerce sites. Hundreds of hotels, resorts, lodges, restaurants, and campgrounds across the world use their products in their properties.

To vertically integrate and help lessen their carbon footprint, Lonesome acquires the 50-year-old company Green Forest Wood Products. A sawmill and supplier of cedar and milled wood products, Green Forest allows Lonesome to control its source and eliminate waste.

As cedar continues to be a strong seller for Lonesome, they create a secondary national cedar brand: Voyaguer. Aimed at the ready-to-assemble and campground markets, Voyageur quickly takes off and becomes Lonesome’s fastest growing product line.

Lonesome Cottage buys Signature Woods. A direct-to-consumer business that makes and sells reclaimed wood wall panel, sliding doors, and mantels, Signature Woods proves to be a perfect addition to the Lonesome family of companies.
